A bitch is amazed by the number of Americans who don’t know the words to the national anthem…who think it was inspired by the Revolutionary War rather than a battle during the War of 1812, which was the other time we fought the British on American soil...and how some folks are now up in arms about the new Spanish language version of the song.
My ass is fascinated that the same talking heads who are so very offended by the Spanish language version of the national anthem turned a blind eye to the trampling of American rights through the Patriot Act.
This bitch is amazed that the same people who seem so fucking patriotic over a bloody song can’t get riled up when American citizens are spied on by their government and then lied to by that government about that spying.
Oh, say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at
the twilight's last gleaming?
A bitch is fascinated that the same assholes who are willing to throw down over this song can’t see the blatant violation of taxing gays and lesbians without being afforded the same basic rights straight Americans are granted without question through marriage.
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, O'er the
ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
My ass sits back and gazes on in awe… that any American can muster up more anger over a song than they can over voter fraud…no-bid contracts…inequality in our legal system and the general FUCK YOU attitude of those in power toward the masses.
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through theThis bitch is flabbergasted to hear any American speak of the President of the United States with the kind of reverence once afforded the King of England…the same King of England thousands of Americans gave their lives to kick to the curb in the founding of this nation and the establishing of a government less than 50% of eligible American voters bother to choose.
night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the
home of the brave?
This bitch is willing to bet a years worth of vodka that these same motherfuckers couldn’t pass the citizenship test if their fucking citizenship depended on it…much less sing the fucking song they're pissed off that some people are now singing in Spanish.

A YEAR'S WORTH OF VODKA? Based on whose drinking habits though? Although I %100 agree with you thoughts I'd almost consider going out of my way to try to prove you wrong for A YEAR'S WORTH OF VODKA!
Once again, you have hit the nail on the head. Go on with yo' bad self.
Ah, thank Gawd for tiny details...
...a bitch reserves the right to determine a years worth of vodka.
And it will not be based on a bitch's personal consumption!
Oh say can you see
an AngryBlackBitch
Whose so eagerly cut
through all the bullshit!
Hooray! Thank you for bringing up taxation without represenatation for gays! I've been preaching that shit for about 9 years now! Ugh!
And I've got something to say about immigration and today's wonderful events...
Some fucking Americans better get their shit together...you cannot be pissed off over illegal or legal immigration if you help this country take a big fucking dump in the lands from which people are migrating. I.e. if you bought a GM car created from Delphi's parts (a border-town company destroying Mexico); if you shop at WalMart; and if you enjoy other Free-Market benefits...(i.e. cheap shoes, wallets, purses, etc.)Suck it up or change some shit motherfuckers!
Ugh! Ugh! Ugh!
Thank god Evo Morales is helping the R-EVO-lution. Morales and Chavez are my new secret lovers!
Peace ABB! See you at Amp tonight!
Hammer
i was wondering when you would get to this topic (i almost emailed you to see what you thought.)
i think the spanish version is actually beautiful and that it is a tribute to our country that others want to appropriate it for themselves.
Right the fuck on!
This is an issue about priorities...those that have their priorities all screwed up are doing their best to scream their disgust at the 21st century re-write of an old English drinking song, Anacreon in Heaven.
The Bible was originally written in Hebrew and Greek. I wonder if Bush, The Great Decider, thinks people should only read it in the original languages?
What's really interesting to me is all the emotion around the use of Spanish (or any other language). If English is the only thing that unites this country culturally and patriotically (if that's a word), then we're in really bad shape. I LOVE the symbolism of the anthem in Spanish ... to me, it shows American pride and cultural pride at the same time and a desire by Latinos to be welcome as part of the melting pot. A very American notion when you think about it. When was the last time Americans sang the anthem or heard it on the radio outside of an athletic context? This is a good thing, in any language. Viva los estados unidos! Feel free to correct my Spanish, but the sentiment is excellent however you say it. And I took the citizenship test, y'all, when Ms. Bitch was getting ready to do a voter education class. And I missed a few and I MAJORED in government. A new citizen is a great citizen; it's not easy to become an American. We can deal with undocumented immigrants without becoming anti-immigrant or anti-Latino. This is the United States and we're better than that. Go see the Statue of Liberty, a gift from France, and read the inscription. Then ask yourself if the IDEA of America is about English-only anthems ... or about a folding in and welcoming. I once successfully gave directions to Starbucks in Spanish (an achievement for me) and felt great being able to be neighborly on a sidewalk in America. I don't know why people freak out about Spanish so much ....
