A gospel break...

Enid II is bothering me…I’m stressed the hell out…my mentee is manifesting drama…there aren’t enough hours in the day…there’s too much to do and I’m not doing any of it well…

Sigh.

I need a gospel break.

Let’s see…ah, yes…Donnie McClurkin’s Stand.

Tell me what do you do when you've done all you can
And it seems like you can't make it through
Child you just stand
You just stand
Stand
Don't you give up
Through the storm , through the rain
Through the hurt , through the pain

Well, you just stand
When there's nothing left to do
You just stand
Watch the Lord see you through
Yes, after you've done all you can
You just stand
Don't you bow, don't bend
Don't give up, don't give in
Hold on, just be strong
God will step in and it won't be long
Tell me, how do you handle the guilt of your past?
Tell me, how do you deal with the shame?
And how can you smile when your heart is broken and filled with pain?
Tell me what do you give when you've given your all
Seems like you can't make it through?
After you've done all you can
After you've gone through the hurt
After you've gone through the pain
After you've gone through the storm
After you've gone through the rain
Prayed and cried,
you've prayed and cried
Prayed and cried,
prayed and cried
After you've done all you can, you just stand.
Child you just stand, when there's nothing left to do
You just stand
Watch the Lord see you through
Yes, after you've done all you can
You just stand.

Yes.

Amen. those are some lyrics, "child, you just stand. When there's nothing left to do you just stand." And on those days, not falling down, not giving up, just standing, is a huge victory. I'm going to go to itunes and download the song now. Because there are always going to be those days.

Hang in there.

Tell Enid II to just back the f*ck on up! I know you'll beat "her".

Love Donnie's music. Hate his belief that folks can be "cured" of their gay "sickness" (including his own accounts of battling those tendencies).

Maybe Obama can talk some sense into him while they're on their "gospel tour" of South Carolina, which also includes the FABOO Mary Mary.

How the fuck did I miss that Enid had returned? Tell me, is there any insurance company representative/Nazi that I can kill for you? Would that make anything better? It would be my pleasure, as you know, to channel my unresolved rage issues toward something productive. ...

Sometimes that's all you can do, the loss, the sadness, the frustration, whatever your demons are can be so overwhelming you are paralyzed. Just remember during those times there are others of us out here standing with you.

Donnie McClurkin may be a fine singer, but he has cost Senator Obama my support as a candidate. How Senator Obama can hold any support in the glbt community with this man on board is beyond my comprehension. Am I over reacting? Probably but this an emotional issue.

I feel y'all on the Obama McClurkin fuck up. As much as I adore gospel music...and I do...I could do without the values of most gospel singers.

Sigh.

But I find comfort in the message. I just wish these folks would listen to what they are singing...
