The floods…

Lawd, a bitch hates floods.

I’m a Missourian and I’ve sure as shit seen my fair share of flooded out this or flooded out that, but these springtime floods are the nastiest. We sit here in St. Louis city and watch at least two weeks worth of dangerous storms and rain followed by the slow rise of the Mississippi…as it floods our neighbors to the north in Iowa…as it heads on down to Missouri.

I sincerely hope the levees hold for all of us who live near the river.

Sigh.

Good luck to you. After the recent weather reports of tornadoes and flooding, I'm not unhappy to be on the west coast with our wild fires and earthquakes.

Start putting stuff up on shelves now... those heavy-duty steel ones like people have in their garage so the shelves don't buckle when waterlogged.

Hey!

What a worry. Is this really a natural disaster or the result of poor planning or lack of planning?

Wow, cloud seeding has run amuck! I don't know how much that has to do with what's going on but I don't think it's just 'nature' or global warming. The infrastructure of roads and levees have been falling apart for years and all the money for maintenance has gone to the war-mongers. Will people remember this when it's time to pull the lever in November?

Shark-Fu, you don't need to post this, but I just heard the storms are worse and spreading to Mizzou. Of course you already know this. I lived in Columbia for a few years when I was a young adult, been to KC and St Louis (saw Stevie Wonder in concert there too in the 70s!).

Anyway, I truly hope they don't hit your area hard, and that you and your home will be safe, cause this global warming shit is crazy.

Damn but I'm glad Al Gore was picked tonight; just hope it ain't too late for him to make a difference to our planet.

Take care,

~ Kit

I've been watching flood coverage-- I lived in Iowa City until relocating to earthquake country three years ago. Shark Fu, I'm praying for you and all the folks downstream.

I feel soooo bad for bad for them. I know exactly what they're going through. I live in New Orleans and things aren't right yet and it's been almost three years since Katrina.
