Sexual healing?

A bitch just read this story over at CNN.com.

Relevant Church head pastor Paul Wirth has issued a sex challenge to his congregation. Specifically, he has challenged married members to have sex every day for 30 days.

Cough.

Pastor Wirth decided to issue that challenge in response to high divorce rates.

Sex…lots and lots and lots of man on woman fluid exchanging sex…keeps the divorce away?

All that talk about arguing over money, a lack of emotional intimacy or poor communication skills was just bullshit.

That’s news to me.

Blink.

That boggled my mind, too. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the divorce rate in his congregation went up after this little stunt.

sex does not = good marriage

I dunno. I thought that lesbians stay together because we don't have sex all the damn time.

Ah, but when we do! (You have heard of the research that says that lesbians have orgasms WAY MORE OFTEN and more consistently than women in heterosexual couples do.)

Sigh.

I would like to point out that there are physiological problems with such a challenge, as well.

Saw the story about it on the news today (Tuesday) and there was a challenge for singles to NOT have sex for 30 days.

I agree, like having sex is THE answer to avoid divorce, nothing else? And I hope he mentions use condoms!

Leave it to a man to decide that more sex is the answer to a very complex issue. Pft.

Oh, Bueno. Adds yet another level of "permission" into things like marital rape, unplanned/unwanted pregnancies, performance anxiety, plus the concept that missionary position penetration is the only way. (Although perhaps I'm selling the good Pastor short and he's lacing up his corset even as we speak?)

Well, I've heard of making a joyful noise unto the Lord, and I once had a friend whose father asked him the next morning if he'd taken up the cloth after a night of hearing "oh, Lord, oh, Jesus!" from the attic where a girlfriend had spent the night, but this is certainly a good turn!

Divorce preventing? I think not.

Well, if that don't solve a marriage's problems, then nothing will.

Just gotta say... Shiiiiiit!

My partner PurpleFeminist was in town this weekend and it seems that we didn't even know about this challenge but kept to it. LMAO!!

*giggles*

Ok... *shakes head to try and focus*

Better now.

Ok, Just gotta say that sex is awesome and all but I am betting that this pastor really doesn't get the fact that sex, fucking, and making love are different things.

I have learned through experience that when the marriage is strong through "traditional" (read: Communication, trust, love, openness and honesty) then the sex follows.

If you don't have those things, well, then it is just fucking and that shit gets old. (Know that from experience too...)

Here is wishing to all of you out there lots of communication, trust, love, openness and honesty with your partner!!

I think you might have missed the point...here is the way I see...he noticed that the collection plate was getting smaller because of all the older people dying off...so he had to think of a way to build it back up again...sort of like the steel mills here is Gary, IN...they know that in 5 year x amount of workers will be retiring so they are trying to start hiring now...get the point!
