Been walking the walk...

Sorry for the delay, y'all!

This bitch has been getting my canvass on with a certain Michele and Alison from Planned Parenthood Affiliates in Missouri (see, I told you I'd give you a shout-out...wink)...and then I put in another round with my good friend Ryan who charmed me out of my exhausted funk.

A nod of the Afro to my fellow activists...you are amazing.

Anyhoo, Happy Election Day!

I hope everyone took the time to savor the beauty of the vote. Enjoy the moment and know that this right was won through the courage and actions of many who are no longer with us.

As I drove to meet my fellow canvassers this morning...and we're talking serious morning, people (wince)...I cruised by a polling place on Delmar and saw a line that led all the way down the sidewalk.

I can't remember the last time I saw a line at a polling place in the city.

A bitch is off for my final round.

Feet tired.

Soul inspired.

I am so amazed by the community participation this election. I myself worked with Election 2008 (they actually pay to canvass and my ass is broke) and with the Obama campaign...awesome experiences.

We need to work on a campaign together at some point...you know this, right?

I live in the voting-est township in Missouri - a district in U-City. More people per capita vote here than anywhere else in the state. We turn out for those April elections for deputy vice-council to the assistant city clerk and the .0009 cent sales tax increases. It's a crazy, active bunch.

I got in line at 5:45 a.m. and didn't head home until after 7:00 and I was voter 205. I couldn't have been happier. Actually, though I realize that the pleasant weather 'round these parts has been good for getting out the vote, I'd have almost been happier in some nasty ol' Missouri fall cold rain. Yeah! Bring it! I'll wait in that.

Oh, Ms. ABB, I am so sorry I couldn't help put MO solidly into the blue column, but I've moved to VA and had to pull my oar here. Here or there, though -

Si, se puede!

It is over. Obama is in.

I am very happy to report that my state, the great state of Florida, carried Obama.

Job well done. Have an extra cape cod for me. You deserve it.
