…while accountability remains an orphan.

This bitch was one sip into a rather fantabulous cup of extra bold coffee (2 cubes sugar and a dash of cream…yum) when a certain Billy Martin (where have I seen him before…oh, yes…oh my!) flashed onto my television screen representing none other that Senator Larry Craig of the three foot taps away from paradise Craigs!

Senator Craig is filing papers to have his guilty plea thrown out. Apparently, Craig was bewitched, bothered and bewildered when he agreed to enter a guilty plea in the Minneapolis airport bathroom sex sting case.

Gasp!

He didn’t know that he was going to be held responsible when he agreed that he was responsible…he had no idea that he was waiving his right to have his case heard before a judge when he waived his right to have his case heard before a judge...he was unaware that “guilty” meant guilty…and he’s prepared to fight till the fight is fought!

But it’s not what Craig wants that fascinates me…it’s what he thinks he deserves.

Pause…sip water…continue.

Senator Craig’s defiance shines a harsh light on the nature of the political aristocracy and how they resist accountability and thus prolong all manner of drama.

Observe.

Members of both political parties who are now gathered to listen to General Petraeus report about the progress or lack of progress in Iraq.

Both plan to hear a report that will validate their interpretation of the new way forward...no matter what General Petraeus or Ambassador Crocker submit.

Neither wants to be held accountable for what they have done, failed to do or plan to do regarding this war.

And so they will posture and spin...waste some time pontificating about some newspaper ad…and avoid any real discussion of where we are and where we need to be.

Policy has a thousand parents while accountability remains an orphan.

Is the whole world watching?

Or does fubar only grow in the dark...

Sorry - getting caught up on the blog (was way, way out of B'Berry range on vacation... it was lovely, thank you; pictures to follow.) and want to toss my nickel in on the reading issue.

Moment of silence, if you please. Madeleine L'Engle passed last week. May a Cherubim (as they are "almost plural") guide her footsteps through this latest andf Greatest Wrinkle in Time.

I think you are onto something here. Maybe fubar is like mold and fungus - it needs a warm, wet, damp place to flourish.

Larry Craig is finished. He has not figured out that no matter what his "trial lawyer" does - his people already decided he is a fag, and therefore is unfit for anything. Even if he is able to fight the guilty plea, he will not survive a reelection.

Meanwhile, I will just kick back with my beer and watch the circus. Clowns having pie fights amuse me.

YES! The harshest of outcomes and some of the most horrendous cases of victimization occur in this world and NOBODY wants to take responsibility or be accountable.
Just look at the attitude of the MoronMonkeyBoy administration. No wonder people think it's OK to stand around like morons after perpetrating the ugliest of frauds.
It's all part of the Gumping of America.

Craig has to convince us all that he was as clueless as he claims. That's a long (money) shot.

It's fun to see this all happen...more fun than a clown car on fire!

The only downside is he gets to keep the media's attention at the same time the Petraeus report comes out. Hmmm, denials of gay antics by a vehemently not-gay senator vs. a justification to kill more people, Iraqi and US. Let's all see what the MSM focus is on.

Seriously, here's the thing. He's convinced himself that he really is innocent. It's called denial. It's almost like brain washing. You say "it ain't so" so many times and eventually....it ain't so.

The Lapdog and Pony show was an exercise in bullshitting the American public..

Good take on the whole thing ABB!

how is it that this guy hasn' t figured out that he is the one persecuting himself. He is the one keeping this farce alive. People would forget and he could move on and even possibly get into office again someday if he would just let this go.
