Practicing the Fine Art of Bitchitude
Ah yes, the classic Midwest ice storm. That is one reason I don't miss living in Nebraska. Keep warm and safe.
Your welcome..that is the storm that just left the west coast Shark Fu :P
Shiiit. Well stay off the roads for goodness sakes! It was near 80 here today.
I'm going to be really weird and say I'm jealous, speaking from weirdly 76-ish-degree Richmond, Va. (I grew up in Georgia and the novelty of ugly frozen weather will never wear off.) But all my sympathies to you, for having to survive weather that causes you discomfort, whether hot or cold!Lurking for a year or two now. Heard you on NPR, too. Thanks for being out there.
Please...PLEASE...don't let Ameren screw us with another power outage this winter. After last year suffering two major outages the first a week without power during a heat wave (high 90s) in the summer and then 4 days without power during the bitter cold (single digits) last winter. I braved it out at home making sure the pets were taken care of and keeping the pipes from freezing, but no way can I do it now with the current health status of my father and myself (he stayed at a local emergency shelter that was set up).
Rain today instead of snow (if we're lucky) here in Chicago. All these weatherpeople are just seekers of audience doing what they're told. They're going to bleat, "Ba-a-a-a-ad weather, ba-a-a-a-ad weather", and mess with our digestion until we stop paying attention toward the end of January. Then they'll behave and just give you the forecast. Happens every year. It's better to take the weather in small, reasonable doses. After you know what's happening now and what's going to happen tomorrow, you can judiciously use that mute button. The clowns'll drive you nuts if you let them. And besides, weather people all come from California, anyway.
Shark-FU, I hate ice storms. Granted it can be pretty (sorry for the impossible optimism) but ya can't do jack with ice. Give me snow anyday. Snow is very pretty and is a wonderful blanket to the world that brings a silience like no other. Sorry bout that, guess I am missing nature and healthy silence. I will be back to the usuall froggie when I get done dealing with life shit here in DC. Keep warm and keep safe.
Little Sister, if it's raining ice there's only one thing to do.... Grab the martini shaker and the vodka and get your ass outside!
I'm with Rileysdtr- Party like its 1999
I will be in STL on Saturday to see Wicked at the Fox Theater. I see that it is supposed to flurry. Please yell at your local weatherperson, and tell him/her that this is unacceptable. I do not want you to freeze, and selfishly, I do not want to freeze either.
