That NPR thang...

Okay, okay, okay...so the fantabulous Michel Martin of NPR's Tell Me More reached out to a bitch about being on her show.

Blink.

She actually reached out a while ago, but a bitch didn't believe that it was really her.

What?

Do you have any idea how many messed up in the head wanna-be Talented Mr. Ripley's there are out there pretending to be normal?

Mmmhmmm, trust a bitch...it's like an epidemic in The Lou (nod to the church, who know exactly what a bitch is talking about).

Anyhoo, a bitch is a huge fan of Ms. Martin...her hair, which is looking fierce (wink), and her political commentary to be sure. Oh and much love to Ms. Jennifer too, who helped pull everything together at the last minute!

So on the show I went!

Cough.

It was fun as hell (chatting with interesting people is the shit...indulges in moment of envy...damn it, I so want that kind of job!!!...then shakes it off) and I certainly hope to be invited back (hint followed by hint).

You should be able to listen or access the show here...

...and I don't want to hear any shit about how I sound (wink one more time).

I heard you this morning! (Well, not from the beginning, so I didn't know it was you until the very end of the interview. But I'll surely listent to the rest of it now.) You sounded great! I predict you'll get called again...

Um, Bitch, why didn't you promote the new products in the store? The coffee mug, the wall clock, the tote bag, the journal, the infant t-shirt? Think about your retirement account.

Now that my pimp duties are complete, congratulations! You sounded terrific! I played it in conference room 4A when I should have been working.

This is the first time I have left a comment on a blog. I felt this was one that I had to do. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR VIEWS!!! I totally agree with you. I did not know how to communicate my views as well as you do. You do represent a lot of my girlfriends who do not forget where they come from. The word Bitch is a word we used in our girlfriend time. We all agreed that we can be a real Bitch if we want to sometime. But it is a positve thing. I will ensure that my friends view you site. Thank you again.

Well deserved. A bitch is really one of the freshest voices on the blogs. Much love!

You were great with Michel Martin! I hope you do find yourself back with her, or anywhere else. Can't wait to hear you again!

Loved your Imus talk - on point.

However you communicate, by voice or pen, you are always most articulate and make people think.

I don't have a radio and the sound card on computer needs to be replaced but I made a point to find a way to listen to this. Wonderful interview, ABB. You were articulate, witty and charming. Michel Martin did a good job also of drawing you out without being confrontational or fawning. Thanks for sharing your opinions and being so brave.

What do you mean we shouldn't mention how you sound? You sound like an intelligent, articulate, right-on bitch!

I love Michel Martin. She's one of the most intelligent guests Bill Maher has ever had on his show, and I wish he'd make her more of a regular. She's excellent at focusing what is usually a scattered discussion, and doesn't kill the fun when she's doing it.

i have loved your written voice for more than a year. however, hearing the actual voice that yields this column I was totally shocked and amused. nothing more liberating to have a sis speak the truth (in speech, writing or art) beyond the confines of stereotype -- in fact, utilizing our these "tools" to fuel the buggy.

Rock on, girlie. I sip a Lemon Drop and salute your Vodka Cran.

after hearing your written voice for a year, it was a total treat to hear you audibly. rock-on, shark-fu!

without question, hearing ideas that challenge convention and stereotype by embracing the language of iconography of subjecation is equally powerful and threatening. just saw the Kara Walker exhibit at The Whitney yesterday -- so, to hear you come alive and speak to the power of embracing language, not just the "safe" or "proper" as a means of expression and articulation is quite the one-two punch.

A Lemon Drop toast salutes your Vodka Cran!

Articulate, intelligent...yes. But the FIRST thing that popped in to my head, upon hearing your voice, was "omg...she sounds so white". Does that make me racist? Is it possible to be a 59 year old white male in the US and not be racist? I honestly don't know.

But I thoroughly enjoyed listening to you. I had that "I knew her when" feeling...like before you were all famous and stuff...I read you when you were just this little ol' blogger...your words, written as well as spoken, resonate. Congratulations.

Tom...oh my goodness!

Racist? I doubt it...but after a lifetime of hearing that I can only recommend that you do some inner work on why you expected to hear a certain sound coming out of a bitch.

That inner work should include a vodka cran or chocolate (wink).
