Hmmmm.
What on Earth should a bitch talk about today?
Pause.
Oh, that’s right!
Ahem.
Shall we sing?
A bitch is feeling rather disco again, chil'ren...
Swing voters were afraid
They were petrified
Kept thinking they could never live without Jim Talent by their side
But we spent so many nights explaining how he did them wrong
They grew strong
They learned how to carry on
So don’t come back!
Stay in outer space!
A bitch had better not walked in and have to look at your sorry assed face!
We need to change our stupid lock
You need to leave your fucking key
I’m going to do whatever possible to
Ensure you never bother me!
Go on now go
Walk out the door
Just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt us with your fucked up neo-con lock step with Scooter votes
Pause.
You think we'd crumble
You think we'd lay down and die
Oh no, not the Show-Me State!
We will survive
As long as we know how to vote
I know we’ll stay alive
We've got all our lives to live
We've got all our votes to give
and we'll survive
We will survive
Shit.
Missouri is going to thrive (wink).
Congratulations Senator-Elect Claire McCaskill!

Amen, Amen and one more very hearty AMEN!
Definitely keeping fingers crossed and prayers going for Montana and Virginia.
Its about time!
Um, can I hear a shout out for Deval Patrick of MA? He is the second African American to be elected to the Governor's seat.
Can I get an amen? It's a new day y'all! Let's celebrate!
Comment from a disaffected former Republican friend of mine who now votes in MO: "I'm going to go home and open up a bottle of wine and self medicate to deal with my cheering for the democrats. never thought the day would come."
Blessed be all the reasons for which we disco.
Huzzah and amen!
Ok now that Runsfeld is out.....we need the scoop on the dream-based Rumsfeld correction. ;)
i so stole your idea from the lieberman post of yore, but it appears the thumpa-thumpa continues!
i got another song for ya!
LOL! I felt the sound.
And let's hear it for Keith Ellison from MN, the first African-American from MN, and the first Muslim elected to Congress!
(PS, ABB, Thank you! I read your post every morning before lecturing. It's much better than the news.)
I was listening to McCaskill in a short little interview on NPR this morning. She sounds really cool and sane and I'm glad she's going to aiming her sharp auditor's glare on the mess up on the Hill. Good for Missouri!
OMG. Could you get any queerer?
It's the chance of a lifetime. Now we get down to step 2 -- we've taken over the wheel house, let's turn this ship around.
LOL Nancy in NYC!
You should see the choreography...
I'm from Mass (Go Patrick!) and sent money to McCaskill's campaign for two reasons: Obama asked me to, and you told me all about her opponent. Rock on!
CHEERS!
A huge sigh of relief. To at last be rid of Talent.
Just checking in to congratulate you on DUMPING TALENT! YEAH, BABY!
I thought of you immediately when I heard. I imagine the vodka cran flowed freely and joyfully last night as the news came in.
The bf and I were rooting so hard for Missouri last night it sounded like we were watching football.
(And a question... I always thought it was "Miz-ur-ee", but almost everyone on CNN last night and a couple of people on MSNBC were saying "Mizzzzurrah", and they sounded like my grandpa. Is it one or the other or both or what?
Much love from Kansas City! The Show-Me State has done us proud. But now is not the time to rest on our laurels. After the party ends (and believe me, we'll be partying for a loooong time) let's make sure the newly-elected realize that their cards can be pulled just as quickly. It's our duty to stay involved and stay aware. Thanks for your insights and much-needed giggles!
long-time reader, first-time commenter delurking to say:
HELLZ YEAH!
And EB - it's Miz-ur-ee. The other is an abomination created by filtering the original through the southern accents that some (but not most) Missourians possess. It's then perpetuated by out-of-staters like Michael J. Fox and the Pepsi spokesgirl, who don't know any better.
Kind of like "Illinoiz".
YOU ARE HIGH-LARIOUS!
