On the Polanski arrest…

A bitch is still illish, but on the re-bound.

Lawd, this bubonic-ebola plague is a whopper!

Anyhoo, I’m playing catch up so…

Cough.

On the Polanski arrest…

Roman Polanski is a brilliant director.

Roman Polanski is a philanthropist and a mentor and blah, blah and blah.

Fuck it.

Roman Polanski is a fugitive from American justice, people.

He’s not the Dalai Lama,…he’s just a human being who fled the United States of America because he found out that our judicial system was about to take another bite out of his ass over his confessed rape of a 13 year old girl (and can we PUHlease cease with the “rape” vs. “real rape” bullshit…must we go there? I think NOT!).

Everything he has done…every donation he has made…every humanitarian action he has indulged in since he fled this country has been on justice’s dime.

Shit, this system will go straight to hell if rich people can just flee…do charity work and then get a pass.

It’s not as if Polanski was facing the death penalty…or life. He would have been done and out…if he had not fled.

If Roman Polanski was getting fucked over by the legal system…and he very may have been…then he’s in good company. Thousands of Americans share that experience…right up to the point where they went to jail and he went to France.

Now, this bitch has about had enough of listening to celebrities speaking out over the miscarriage of justice handed to the then 44 year old Polanski for his having raped a 13-year-old girl.

If there has been a delay…if this has “dragged on”…if it feels as if this case has no end then one need only look to Mr. Polanski for the cause of that shit.

And, in the name of all those who are currently wrapped up in the American prison system, Mr. Polanski ain’t the poster child for justice denied.

He’s more an example of how the privileged get over…

...while the poor get jail.

Girl you always tell it like it is and I love that. I can't believe there's even an argument about weather or not that old man should be locked up. In my country it is not OK to have sexual relationships with 13 year olds, I don't know what they do in France. Ugh.

And Woody Allen of all people is loudly defending him? He needs to go sit himself down somewhere and keep a low profile and let Polanski fend for himself.

Let Polanski write scripts and give to charities from a jail cell, IMO.

right on

Why are people saying there was a miscarriage of justice? Was he framed? Was the confession beaten out of him?

The victim says it happened. He confessed. Why was he allowed the opportunity to flee the country?

I don't get it.

Roman Polanski = Robert Kelly

Your words reflect the truth to this situation. A 44 year old man taking advantage of a child is sickening. You mention the charitable works he did to offset his crime, and it got me to thinking that Polanski might have tried donating money to Bill Clinton and asking for a pardon. It worked for one of the US's biggest tax offenders and several other sorts of offenders. Was it Confucius who said that "How much justice you can afford?"

Polanski makes great movies. But he gave alcohol and quaaludes to a 13 year old and then violated her against her will.

Rape, in other words, and a most despicable kind.

Gotta be honest, I was the poster calling you out on the Belleville incident. I still think you are being disingenuous on that one. You need to think through what really happened there, and you've made some very convenient conclusions so far.

So I came back to see if the discussion continues. It doesn't.

But I agree with you on Polanski.

Word. What I really don't get are the women defending this turd. But like @lawegohard pointed out, Polanski and R. Kelly and that miserable shit heel Woody Allen are birds of a feather and brothers in a misogynistic post-racial future where the fame, money, power, gender, and "artistic license" that unites these sick fucks is much more important than their skin tone.

The odds are good that Roman Polanski is going to get away with it.

Let's remember, there's no gray area here. In a civilized society, this case would be a slam dunk for the prosecution. Polanski is a rapist, a child molester and a sociopath. The famous Oscar-winning director took a 13 year old girl to Jack Nicholson's house and sodomized her. What's worse, the cops didn't have to work very hard to find out what happened because not only did Polanski confess to his crime, he bragged about it. "Everybody wants to fuck a young girl," Polanski explained.

And the idiotic Hollywood celebrities eagerly signing the "Free Roman Polanski!" petition obviously agree. Behind the pathetic excuses and lame rationalizations, what these politically-correct assholes are really saying is that Rich White Guys have the right to fuck children. "Maybe Roman was wrong, but hey, I loved Chinatown." Jesus. Only in Tinseltown is an Oscar a "Get Out Of Jail Free" card.

Does anybody remember Leona Bobbit? Now that was a woman who knew what to do to a rapist.

Thanks for your post-- this makes me so damn mad. I was talking to an elderly neighbor about it (she's a character), and she had this to say (very sarcastically)--"Say what you will about Hitler, but at least he didn't rape little girls! That's one catagory where Polansky is worse than Hitler! And I don't ever say that anyone is worse than Hitler."

May justice be served.

Hi there,

Roman Polanksi was in a relationship with Natasha Kinski from the time she was a little girl and everyone knows this.

What amazes me is the outrage over Roman Polanski having sex with a 13-year old white girl and NO ONE was outraged over the Lovings who got married and were celebrated as being a deeply-in-love interracial couple.

Excuse me..she was 15 years old when that white man set his eyes on her. No one was the slightest bit outraged.

May I mention Sally Hemmings? She was an adolescent and no one says SHE was raped!!

I suppose there is only an uproar when white men are having sex with 14-year olds when they are white?

How interesting...

Pretty much exactly.

Unrelated to your post, but since you have wide readership I thought you might like to know about the Free Flu Shot Days at Barnes Jewish: http://news.barnesjewish.org/pr/bjh/FluShot2009List.aspx

Thought this would be helpful to the (many) without coverage.

So if he was the dalai lama he'd be off the hook? I bacon your pardon??

BWBTT, you left out Claudette Colvin, the Black teenager largely credited with being the "real first Rosa Parks" but who the (largely middle class male) civil rights establishment decided was not "upstanding" enough to represent the issue. For one, she was non-wed and pregnant. Probably not, however, through a consensual relationship nor with someone her own age.

It is largely preaching to the choir in this forum, but young Black girls in a similar situation rarely are the symbols for such demand for justice years later. I cannot recall a large chorus of voices on mainstream feminist blogs, for example, during the R. Kelly trial. (Nor during the R. Kelly marriage to then-teenaged Aaliyah...)

Yes, I am all for Polanski being brought back here to face the legal ramifications of his actions. But I guess it is hard for me to get too hepped up about it because I doubt he will suffer many (if any) serious consequences.

Um, no Anonymous.

He's not the Dalai Lama...meaning that he is not unjustly persecuted and exiled but rather has been enjoying a self imposed exile after skipping out on a sentence for a crime he admits having committed.

Mercy.

@Rondell : It's forbidden also in France, but Polansky is French and generally, France state do not extrade its own citizens.

Oh yes, that is the truth! The poor do time and the rich get away with the crime. Saying prayers for all the innocents in jail right now. Saying prayers for all those in jail for the same crimes that others go free for. Saying prayers for all those who have been profiled. Like I tell anyone who will listen. It is NOT that black and hispanic men commit more crimes it is that they are the ones who are arrested and convicted. Make no mistake otherwise.
