Busier and busier…

Lawd, have mercy, y’all!

This bitch is busier than busy so please forgive me my lack of posting. I’ve been preparing for my participation in the A Girl like Me: A Conversation About Race, Beauty and Self-Image event at the Missouri History Museum tonight!

Things kick off at 6pm and don’t forget to bring some dinner-based yumminess with you.

Anyhoo, the much anticipated Vice Presidential Debate is taking place here in St. Louis and this bitch needs to get my pre-debate preparedness on.

Blink.

Oh, c’mon…the pre-debate frenzy of speculation is usually better than the actual debate! I just adore watching political commentators freak the fuck out over ever shifting poll numbers and which wanna-be Veep is more likely to fuck up. And with Gov. Palin’s recent verbal malfunctions feeding the fire, this bitch anticipates some serious pre-debate bullshit to go down today through tomorrow.

The best part of having a high profile debate hosted in my home town is knowing that all the media folks a bitch watches on a regular basis are in town.

Pause…ponder whether the fantabulous Gwen Ifill would join a bitch for soul food yumminess and political speculation at Sweetie Pie’s…continue.

Anyhoo…this shit calls for some serious preparedness.

I’m thinking smothered soul-food yumminess, vodka followed by cran and a well rested TiVo…

You're lucky. I want to have media and soul food.
Oh wait. . . we pretty much have soul food everyday out here on the creek and the media probably couldn't be housed even if everbody cleaned out their well house and moved the canned goods outta the spare bedroom.
You'd better handle it ABL.

Ah, Gwen (sighs like a school girl...) everything stops when Washington Week comes on TV at our house. I already have the pillows fluffed for tomorrow - all we need is a good drinking game and we're ready.

If you do snag a snack with the Goddess, do please send Gwen our undying love!

Missouri is lucky to hold such events, Here in my country especially in my province Capiz, it rarely happens. Good Luck.

Wish I could be at the museum. It would be nice to put a face on the (for me) faceless blogger known as ABB/Shark-Fu.

For me that will most definitely involve a bit of tequila. In fact, that is mandatory for debacle night... I mean DEBATE night.

Oh, word. Grolby and I are going to be watching that debate with some popcorn and laughter. (As soon as I get home from school that is, I'll be catching the first parts on my car radio.)

Enjoy the media glare, ABB and keep your hopes up. Even Ms. Ifill has to eat.

This bitch would love to have a drinking game for the debates so I would love to hear some ideas. Maybe every time Palin says "you know"? "drill"? "my family"? I wonder if she's really bright and the republicans have asked her to just play dumb until the debates?

Yah, berdawn - I'm looking for ideas, too. As I don't want to get too far into the bag, verbal tics and stutters need to be off-limits. Each reference to hockey Moms and Scranton roots? That would provide a mighty buzz right there.

I am confident Palin is "bright" as such, but her incurious mind (see: reading habits) makes me shudder. I sent Little Sister Fu a diatribe on that earlier in the day, but the soap box is closed for the evening.

Ah - here's an idea. For each time Palin riffs on the "you can't blink or the terrorists win" theme, take a drink. For each reference to Islamofascism (on the day of Eid al Fitr, no less) take a drink. Each time she threatens to attack Russia, well, God help us all, we better take two....

Speaking of "A Girl like Me: A Conversation About Race, Beauty and Self-Image", doesn't this Michelle Obama tribute song by The Lady Tigra capture your imagination regarding our imminently black First Family? Salon posted a video of this today in BroadSheet and here's the link to the free download:

I know First Lady is not an elected position, but I can still get excited about what Michelle's version of Elenor Roosevelt might be like, can't I?? :)

I would love to throw back some vodka cran and play Palin Bingo with all you fierce ass bitches. That would be a good time. Alas, since I can't, I'll be drinking Skinny Bitches (Stoli Vanilla & Diet Coke) with the husband and cats and playing Palin Bingo with them. Which really stinks because the cats usually try to cheat.

Darn, forgot the event - didn't even eat lunch until 6 PM, I've been so busy.

Who else is excited that Ifill is writing a book about race and politics in the Obama era (what, 2007 on? He was a gleam in hopeful eyes, but generally not seen as a primary winner before the primaries started).

Thanks for the Palin Bingo Card! I think I'm going to use "Gwen" for the drinking game. I thought about "John McCain as preseident" but I think that will be too many times, and as ABB points out, tonight IS a school night.
