The cost of distraction…

This bitch is disgusted by the number of Missouri children who are at risk because they have no healthcare coverage...and my ass is only more disgusted that talking heads prefer to debate lipstick and pig.

Shit.

Longtime readers know that a bitch has no love for outgoing Missouri Governor Matt Blunt. The freakish experiment in nepotistic drama that was Blunt’s rise to power has taken a serious toll on my home state….and left this bitch wishing Daddy Blunt had found some D.C. based pencil pushing position to install his fucked up from the floor up son in to.

But Missouri can’t blame the entire 44% rise in the number of uninsured Missouri children on Gov. Blunt’s gleeful slashing of Medicaid funding.

He’s a fuck up, for sure…but some of this is due to the fact that Missouri is hemorrhaging jobs and unemployment is soaring and parents without private healthcare through their employers can’t insure their children.

Unemployment in Missouri is at a 16 year high…the national economic crisis is hitting home here and people looking for income must weigh the need for healthcare against the need for shelter and food.

Missouri is writhing under the impact of complete GOP control of our state on top of the GOP’s federal failure to manage the economy.

And trust that Senator McCain offers nothing but more cuts and a Hoover-esque hands off approach to the economy that will have the same nightmarish results.

Shit rolls downhill, picks up speed and usually crashes down on the masses locally. Someone somewhere may want to start asking those specifics avoiding maverick broncos why they are allergic to funding domestic policies and why they speak of reform yet support a political posture that will continue to send what little money we have elsewhere and why their values fail to value hard working American families.

That’s where we are at, y’all…Missouri sure as shit ain’t alone in this…and a new outfit of bedazzled maverick-based bullshit spin followed by a full makeover at the MAC counter won’t make this pig pretty…

100% truth Shark-Fu.

McCain talking about change reminds me of this snip from the movie Oh Brother where art thou:

"PAPPY: Languishing! Goddamn campaign is languishing! We need a shot inna arm! Hear me, boys? Inna goddamn ARM! Election held tomorra, that sonofabitch Stokes would win it in a walk!

JUNIOR: Well he's the reform candidate, Daddy.

Pappy narrows his eyes at him, wondering what he's getting at.

PAPPY: ...Yeah?

JUNIOR: Well people like that reform. Maybe we should get us some.

Pappy whips off his hat and slaps at Junior with it.

PAPPY: I'll reform you, you soft-headed sonofabitch! How we gonna run reform when we're the damn incumbent!"

McCain has all but promised more of the same. I hope the people of this country have the good sense to see through all the Palin strawman nonsense.

Yea, shit rolls downhill.

And the Republicans are pro-life. They want all babies conceived to be born.

But once here, if their parents can not afford food, baby supplies, or medical care - then fuck them. At that point all these babies are just a drain on society, annoyances that threaten to cost us some money.

Can't have that! OH NO!!!!!

The Cost Of Distraction - yes, indeed, that's the perfect summary of what seems to be going on. I'm Canadian, so on the surface this U.S. election doesn't directly affect me (and yet it really does, of course), but I gotta say it's frustrating as hell watching what seems to be happening *once again*! It's proven to have worked before, and one way that this does actually affect us in the Great White North is this - it appears our current Conservative gov't has been taking notes (the first time I heard our Prime Minister use the term "cut 'n' run", I just about puked!).

I became aware of this blog via one of your guest spots on, I think, NPR. The topic was about the PUMAs, and I was relieved that someone else seemed to have the same suspicions about them (IMO, all signs point to nothing resembling a Democrat, bitter or not, especially if one reads their forum comments rife with typical Republican catcalls and catchphrases).

Off topic to the body of your latest entry, I guess, but somewhat pertinent to the topic of "distraction", I wonder what your thoughts are regarding this Michigan development:

I'm sure there are many more stories just as sinister that are being buried by the important topics of people's middle names and pigs with lipstick. :/

Keep up the great work!

Sorry - me again. :)

If you like, you can weld this to my other comment, but I think it's another important story with regards to McCain's "change agent" veneer:

Oh, have you not heard? Bush now plans to redefine uninsured Americans of all ages as covered, since anyone can get treated at an emergency room.

Only, of course, we ALL can't get treated at ERs. In fact most of us can't.

But, you know, a sensible plan that would actually cover all citizens for less money than we currently spend would be socialist.

Someone remind me why that would be bad, again?

They call themselves conservatives but they've been acting like radical extremists in the past 7 years. They're goal: to sell off the government to privatized corps lock, stock and barrel. This includes all city services.

Anyone who thinks today was nothing but bad financial news ain't seen nothing yet. Shark-Fu, come by and read my last two posts. Here's the one I uploaded near dawn today: From Black Monday to Black Autumn, The New Great Depression Arrives

I gave you an honorable mention in Friday one, It's Demonic: If They Ain't Blinking, They Ain't Thinking.

Hope you all get a chance to read them both and leave lil' ole me a comment. Both posts have info many of you will be quite interested in. Thanks and take care. ~ Kit

It's interesting that the government continually speaks about getting rid of big government all the while getting bigger everyday to give money to companies and bailing them out while stranding tax payers by the wayside. I am so tired of being sick and tired of their lies and misappropriation of funds. I bet if you looked closely at your state you would see that most corporations are paying little to no taxes at all, while getting huge tax breaks. When will they wake up and see you can not save a state, town, society by bankrupting it. Stupid heads! There way is NOT working!

Get lots of food and water, batten down the hatches and hold on because a storm fiercer than anything we have seen to date is coming our way. It is going to be UGLY! How could anyone vote for MCCain? How can they not see the truth? This is exactly what really worries me about human beings. The ability to have to truth right before us and be unable to see it. YIKES!

The redder the state, the lousier its economy, the greater its percentage of unemployed and uninsured, and the greater its dependence on and share of government handouts (Bridge to Nowhere-type as well as Medicare/caid, SSI, and other basic human-needs funds). Oh - and the higher its divorce rate.
